The Denver Admin Awards – Award Categories & Questions 

 

The following award categories and their corresponding questions for the Denver Admin Awards are listed below. Recognize outstanding Denver area Administrative Professionals all year-long through The Denver Admin Awards, but be sure you submit your nominations by the deadline for the current year’s program which can be found here. All questions below will also be included in the nominations portal which can be accessed here. Please be aware that the more thorough and specific you are in completing the award category questions the more likely your nominee is to advance in the program to the finalist and/or winners status. Also be aware you do not need to complete your nomination all in one sitting. Happy Nominating!

The Rookie of the Year Award

The Rookie of the Year Award celebrates an Administrative Assistant (including Receptionists) new to the administrative profession whose career as an Admin started less than 3 years ago.  Candidates in this award category have already made a significant impact on the organization, seek continuous improvement and demonstrate great potential to continue to excel and advance in their role.  This award honors either young professionals who are either starting their career as an Administrative Professional, or more mature individuals who have re-entered the workforce as an Admin or made a career change. Please note: This is NOT an age-related award category.

Questions:

  1. What did this Administrative Professional do prior to their career as an Admin? Please provide a brief description.
  2. How has this Rookie of the Year Candidate made an impact on the organization and demonstrated exceptional value to their company in their new administrative role?
  3. How has this Administrative Professional demonstrated an early commitment to continuous improvement in their new role as an Administrative Professional?
  4. Describe the overall impact that this Administrative Professional has had on their organization as a result of their competencies, dedication, achievements, etc.

The Community Champion Award

The Community Champion Award is awarded to the Administrative Professional who best demonstrates a commitment to serving others in their community and works internally to inspire employee volunteerism, community service and good corporate citizenship on behalf of their organization.

Questions:

  1. How has this Administrative Professional demonstrated a passion for volunteerism and community service and how has it positively impacted their organization?
  2. How does this Administrative Professional inspire fellow employees to serve the community and engage in volunteerism?
  3. Please include any additional information that you feel would be helpful in demonstrating how this Administrative Professional impacts others through their service.

The Leadership Award

The Leadership Award recognizes the Administrative Professional that best demonstrates multiple leadership qualities such as confidence, focus, integrity, innovation, patience, decisiveness, open-mindedness, empowerment, generosity, persistence and a passion for helping fellow employees and their organization succeed.

Questions:

  1. Please describe the leadership qualities that this Administrative Professional demonstrates in their role and provide specific examples or details to support each of these qualities. Leadership qualities that you might speak to could include (but are certainly not limited to) qualities such as determination, focus, confidence, integrity, passion, innovation, patience, decisiveness, open-mindedness, empowerment, generosity, persistence, etc.
  2. Please provide specific examples of how this Administrative Professional demonstrates a passion for leading people or projects towards success.
  3. Describe how this Administrative Professional shares their knowledge, expertise and experience with others in the organization and how this positively impacts the organization’s work environment.
  4. Please provide any additional details that you feel would be helpful in demonstrating what makes this Administrative Professional an exceptional leader in their organization and/or in their profession.

The Achiever Award

The Achiever Award recognizes the high performing Administrative Professional that has successfully demonstrated one or more of the following criteria:

  • Has successfully managed and/or executed a significant project that has had a positive, company-wide impact within the past 2 years
  • Continuously performs difficult tasks and solves challenging problems day after day as a result of their resourcefulness and relentless perseverance

Questions:

  1. Please describe the project(s), assignment(s) or scope of work that the Administrative Professional was given and what the organization was trying to accomplish through the completion of it.
  2. Describe the level of complexity of the project(s) and how critical successful achievement of the project(s) was to the organization.
  3. Describe how this Administrative Professional demonstrates relentless perseverance and resourcefulness in successfully accomplishing projects and important tasks in their role.
  4. Describe the overall impact that this Administrative Professional has had on their organization as a result of their competencies, dedication, achievements, etc.

The Administrative Excellence in Healthcare Award

The Administrative Excellence in Healthcare Award is presented to an Administrative Professional employed in the healthcare or wellness industries that demonstrates exceptional competence, healthcare industry knowledge, outstanding customer service and a passion for improving the physical and emotional well-being of others.

Administrative Professionals working for the following types of organizations are eligible for recognition in this award category: Healthcare providers, hospital systems, physician groups, wellness companies, pharmaceutical companies and medical device supply companies.

Questions:

  1. How many years has this Administrative Professional worked in the healthcare and/or wellness industry?
  2. Describe how this Administrative Professional demonstrates exceptional competence and a unique knowledge of the healthcare and/or wellness industry.
  3. How does this Administrative Professional demonstrate a passion for improving the physical and/or emotional well-being of others through their administrative position in the healthcare and/or wellness industry?
  4. Describe how this Administrative Professional significantly impacts the organization through their administrative role including fellow coworkers, patients, clients and vendors.

 The Spirit Award 

The Spirit Award celebrates the Administrative Professional that consistently exhibits a positive, optimistic outlook that people find contagious and uplifting. They approach their work with high energy, enthusiasm and demonstrate an eagerness to help others, always with a positive can-do attitude. This is the person that lifts up the office, who people are drawn to during good days and bad and the person that contributes to a culture of optimism and positivity within the organization.

Questions:

  1. Please provide a general overview of this Administrative Professional’s responsibilities including what Executive or Department they serve.
  2. Describe how this Administrative Professional’s optimistic spirit positively impacts their coworkers, clients, vendors etc. and/or the overall organization.
  3. Please provide specific examples of what this Administrative Professional does to create a positive, upbeat work environment for others.
  4. Please share any additional information about what makes this Administrative Professional uniquely qualified to win The Spirit Award.

The Loyalty Award

The Loyalty Award is presented to the Administrative Professional that has a long history of effective service in the Administrative profession (minimum of 20 years) and/or has a long history of effective service to their existing company or Executive in an administrative capacity (minimum of 10 years).

Questions:

  1. Please describe how this Administrative Professional’s long history of effective service has positively impacted their organization and/or administrative profession.
  2. Describe how this Administrative Professional puts the needs of others and/or the needs of the organization before her/his personal needs.
  3. Describe the overall impact that this Administrative Professional has had on their organization as a result of their competencies, dedication, achievements, etc.
  4. Please provide specific examples that best demonstrate this Administrative Professional’s tireless commitment to their Organization, Executive and/or profession.

The Above the Call Award 

The Above the Call Award honors the Administrative Professional that goes above and beyond the call of duty in delivering an exceptional customer experience, a phenomenal first impression and serves internal and external customers with professionalism, enthusiasm and care. Candidates that qualify for the Above the Call Award include any Administrative Professional whose job responsibility involves significant interaction with others such as coworkers, customers, vendors, company visitors, etc.  Administrative titles might include, but are not limited to: Receptionists, Office Assistants, Client Service Assistants, Facilities Assistants, Sales Coordinators, Sales Assistants, Marketing Coordinators, etc.

Questions:

  1. Describe this Administrative Professional’s primary role and a general overview of their responsibilities.
  2. Who does this Administrative Professional regularly interact with day to day in their role?
  3. Please provide specific examples of how this Administrative Professional has gone above and beyond in providing exceptional customer service to others.
  4. Describe the overall impact that this Administrative Professional has had on their organization as a result of their competencies, dedication, achievements etc.
  5. Describe any examples of when this Administrative Professional was commended for their extreme professionalism, helpfulness or friendly demeanor.

The Colleen Barrett Award for Administrative Excellence

The Colleen Barrett Award for Administrative Excellence is The Admin Awards’ most prestigious award. This coveted award will be presented to the admin that best demonstrates the qualities listed below, many of which enabled Colleen Barrett’s rise from legal secretary to President and Chief Operating Officer of Southwest Airlines and contributed to the company’s legendary corporate culture and extraordinary success.

These qualities are:

  • High proficiency
  • Values that reflect those of your organization
  • Passionately committed to your organization’s cause or purpose
  • Deeply committed to legendary customer service both internally and externally
  • The heart for employee advocacy — making sure the company always does right by its employees

  1. Please describe how this Administrative Professional possesses a high level of proficiency in their role as an Administrative Professional. Please include what specific skills, certifications, education and/or training they have that supports their role.
  2. Please provide specific examples of how this Administrative Professional shares the same values as their organization.
